Copyright and Use of our contents
Kodansha’s publications as well as images, texts, comics, characters, etc. on Kodansha’s website are all copyrighted works. Since these rights are protected under the Japanese Copyright Act, the following actions are prohibited if done without our prior approval:
- Commercial use of all or part of the design, contents, table of contents, images, texts, comics, characters, etc. of our publications or on our websites.
- Commercial use of summaries of texts, comics, etc. from our publications or websites.
- Creation of novels, texts, etc. based on images, texts, comics, characters, etc. from our publications or websites and using them commercially.
- Creation of illustrations, parodies, images, etc. using or modifying images, cartoons, characters, etc. from our publications or websites by yourself, and using them commercially.
- Creation and commercial use of wallpaper, icons, computer software, etc. from images, comics, characters, etc. from our publications or websites, or from contents which you created using or modifying the above from our publications or websites.
- Copying, scanning or digitizing our publications by delegating to a third party, even for the purpose of personal or family use. Unauthorized reproduction of publications is prohibited, with exceptions under the Japanese Copyright Act being applied.
The above acts constitute an infringement of the “Right to make available for transmission under the Japanese Copyright Act when uploaded on a server, and an infringement of the “Right of reproduction under the Japanese Copyright Act when the digital data is stored on a server. Please note that legal action may be taken against such copyright infringements.
